Since 2013, Tami Gouveia, MSW, MPH has served as Tobacco Free Mass' executive director. Ms. Gouveia works collaboratively will the executive committee and all coalition members in leading efforts to fight tobacco industry tactics.
Ms. Gouveia served nine years as Director of Programs at the Northeast Center for Healthy Communities at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, where she provided strategic consulting to community health coalitions and programs throughout the state. During her tenure Ms. Gouveia improved operations, expanded programming, and ensured strategic alignment across all levels of the department.
Ms. Gouveia is a committed volunteer and advocate who founded several organizations and initiatives to improve the lives of local residents. In 1998, Ms. Gouveia launched a coalition of partners across the city of Lowell and secured $1 million in funding to support substance abuse prevention strategies and efforts. Evidence-based prevention strategies continue to help youth and young adults make decisions to remain tobacco, alcohol, and drug-free.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Holyoke College, a Master of Social Work and a Master of Public Health from Boston University. Ms. Gouveia is a doctoral student in the DrPH Management, Leadership, and Policy Program at Boston University.

Tobacco Free Mass recently hired Ken Farbstein to lead local efforts to increase the minimum legal sales age of all tobacco products to 21. Mr. Farbstein is an award-winning national leader in practical, cost-effective, healthcare improvement in behavioral health. Mr. Farbstein has served as Managing Principal of the Melior Consulting Group where he has advised healthcare executives on implementation strategies for improving the quality of care while reducing costs.
Mr. Farbstein earned a Bacherial of Arts from Standford University and a Master of Public Policry from Brandeis University.
